YouTube Ads
I sometimes get asked about ads on YouTube videos. For the most part, I don’t touch them. YouTube auto-places ads on every video and it’s fine.
Longer videos, though, particularly interviews, tend to be overboard with ads. Here, for instance, is the look at ads on my upcoming interview with Dan from Twitter:
Each of those little vertical black hashmarks is an ad, auto-placed by YouTube. That’s 16 ads in 50 minutes, or one every three minutes or so.
That is not a good experience for the viewer. I cut more than half of them out, and always do.
🎁 My Pickup Of The Week
I was the underbidder on this auction for a ton of 1993 Topps Finest cards. Whoever won got a great deal, as $0.30 per card is a massive win.
I just didn’t want to put a lot of money towards this set right now as I save for The National.
I did win this, however, to get me within 2 of completing the Red Sox set:
👻 Brief Horror Movie Review of the Week
Final Destination 3 continues the same as the first two, but for some reason I found this one more enjoyable than the second. I don’t think I’ll be watching any of the others before seeing the new one in theaters later this month.
3.5 out of 5 stars.
I also tried watching the original The Evil Dead from 1981 but couldn’t get into it. Bad acting, bad dialog, bad everything. I remember watching it my freshman year of college and feeling the same way.
