Still no fix for my comments… hopefully this week.

As I mentioned over the weekend, I have 13 cards at auction on Collector Investor Auctions. I’ll link to them individually below, but you can also search for Junk Wax Hero and find them all easily that way.

1981 Topps Larry Bird PSA 6 — really nicely centered

1992 Skybox AAA #5 Pedro Martinez Albuquerque Dukes PSA 10 — only selling this because there’s another that looks identical but has a different number and I don’t need both

🎬 Channel Highlights From the Past Week

I did my first “emergency” evening video in years when I saw that Darren Rovell had confirmed the rumors of the PSA 10 1952 Topps Mantle sale:

After doing that video, I received some emails and phone calls with a lot more interesting information that I have been unable to confirm. If and when I do, I’ll share it.

I also shared details from selling my Shohei Ohtani rookie collection:

I was surprised at how many angry comments I received just for selling cards. Too many people get mad at others for the way they manage their collection.

I started this video by saying, “I haven’t purchased a card in 10 days. Am I broken?” and I assumed that would make it clear that it was mostly tongue-in-cheek, but I was again surprised at the angry and rude comments.

🎁 My Pickup Of The Week

Slowly chipping away at my 2004 Red Sox rookie autograph collection:

👻 Brief Horror Movie Review of the Week

Suspiria is in the top 15 of the Fangoria list of greatest horror movies of all time, so I was excited to give it a watch. That excitement ended quickly.

Peter Griffin once said of his distaste for The Godfather, “It insists upon itself,” and there’s no better example of that than Suspiria. The lighting and music are painful. Yes, people cite them both as reasons for loving the movie. But a) those people are trying to appear artsy, b) they’re wrong, c) and those are not good reasons to enjoy a movie.

There is not a single character that I care about. This is a major problem!

Every actor plays their part way over the top. It’s unnecessary.

I also watched Toy Soldiers for the first time in 30 years. No, it’s not a horror movie, but there’s so much nostalgia there. Sean Astin as a troubled high school kid? Louis Gossett Jr. as the teacher who reins him in? The Russian from Lost as the lead terrorist? Yes, please.

We don’t get enough high school movies these days.
