I'm pretty sure Di Maggio's secretary knew how to spell Joseph. A scammer, perhaps not so much. But the scammer seems to have been smart enough to ask PSA to grade the card but not authenticate the auto. That way, the auto seems at first glance to have PSA's seal of approval when it doesn't. But you're right: PSA should have graded as if someone had scrawled all over the front of the card, if they were not going to treat it as a real auto.

Re: The guy who put his son's Wemby jersey up for auction, then sued thje auiction house to reverse the $73,200 sale when Wemby went down for the year. Man, talk about greed. He claimed in his suit that his son changed his mind about selling the jersey (as if he ever wanted to!) Goldin replied that the jersey had already been paid for and shipped. Good. Unless the buyer is a wealthy superfan of Wemby, he's making a calculated gamble that if Wemby comes back strong the jersey will be worth a lot more.

PSA, just when you thought you were out, they pull you back in. With them being so prevalent in the hobby, they'll always find a new way to say wtf?

Hahaha! i like your comment on PSA's app. Very accurate, yeah, i'm no fan of PSA, but i downloaded it last night after i saw Neo's video and yeah, it's pretty slick! It's kind of a pain that you have to scan the back of the card too, but i guess that ensures accuracy. Of course most of my cards no one bothers to grade, but still cool to see the one or two that are out there.

Mike, I completely agree with your Amazon->PSA comp. I am definitely using SGC more now than I ever have, but I still like certain types of cards in PSA slabs. The updated app is pretty amazing, surfed around on it a bunch the other night. Sorry about your taxes 😞
