The Devastation of Losing A Clearing the Bases Episode

If you’re a regular viewer of my YouTube channel, you were probably looking forward to my Sunday Clearing the Bases episode. It’s my most popular series now, averaging about 4,000 views every Sunday.

But this week it didn’t happen. Why?

I spent about 60 minutes prepping it and another 45 recording it. But I didn’t do one piece of my normal prep: check my audio.

You see, I have a new headset that I’m using for Sunday videos, and it turns out it auto-mutes itself to start any video. Why would it do this? Why didn’t an indicator show up? I don’t know.

Lesson learned: I’m switching to my new podcast microphone for Sunday videos. Frustrating lesson to learn, but I’ll be better off for it.

🎬 Channel Highlights From the Past Week

Views have been difficult to come by recently. There have been rumors (that YouTube has refuted) that the new “hype” feature has hurt channels that don’t get hyped. I actually don’t even know if I’ve been hyped. Would I receive a notification? I’ve been hyping channels at my max level, but I have no idea if they know or if it helps them.

That seems to have ended last week.

My PSA 9 video has about 2,500 views:

Interestingly, both got off to really slow starts before taking off over the weekend.

Podcast Highlights

Last week Graig, Adam, and I introduced our new podcast network, and Graig and I rolled out the first episode of Surface Issues, our flagship podcast. The response was overwhelmingly positive.

Episode 2 is already available on Spotify and other podcasting networks. It will hit the YouTube channel on Tuesday for those of you who prefer that platform.

Maybe I’ll announce my next podcast series next Monday?

I’m not really into supernatural horror, but for some reason I really want to see the new Conjuring: Last Rites. So I watched The Conjuring 2, and felt that it was quite a bit more enjoyable than the first one.
